Twitter - What are you doing - mobile, IM and website online community
Twitter was developed in 2006 by Obvious. Focus: In 140 characters or less, say what you are doing. Think status update (Facebook). People following you can receive your status on their mobile, on instant messenger or on the website. In addition, the API and RSS set up is such that the status can be pulled into other online communities such as Facebook. Personally, I tend not to use Twitter too much. Although it can be one-to-few (by using @ symbol only members of both parties can see the message) and one-to-many (anyone who is following you, I'm not much of an "instant" person. Out of synchronous and aynchronous I'll take delayed thanks. :-) But the point of mobile communities is always on, no matter where. Twitter has a "nudge" option - message someone a Twitter nudge and it reminds them/asks them to do a status update on Twitter. Don't tell your mum that! There are a bunch of add ons for Twitter, which I will quickly get around to reviewing. You can vote here
